Keep the colour or change the character

Which Carbins finish suits your car?

Carbins makes transparent and colour PPF using TPU, or thermoplastic polyurethane. Clear film keeps the paint colour visible. Matte film softens the reflections, while colour PPF gives you a different look with a protective film layer.

Clear gloss for the paint you already love

If the original colour is part of what drew you to the car, clear gloss is a natural choice. It keeps that colour visible with a reflective surface, whether you cover the front end or the full exterior. Carbins’ clear-gloss range includes S Series Diamond Guard.

Matte clear for a quieter, softer look

Matte clear lets the underlying colour show through while reducing the reflective appearance. Carbins’ M Series offers this type of finish. For a gloss-painted car, full-exterior coverage creates a consistent change, while a single matte panel would look different from the gloss panels beside it.

Colour PPF for a fresh direction

Want the car to feel different when you walk up to it? Carbins colour PPF combines a colour change with a protective TPU layer, with gloss black and coloured finishes in the range. It is a separate option from a conventional PVC vinyl wrap. A physical sample helps you choose how the colour and reflections look before committing to a full transformation.

Available colours and film models vary. Tell us the look you want and we can discuss the options for your car.

Protect the panels that work hardest

Match the coverage to your driving

Think about where you drive and where your car picks up wear. Frequent motorway journeys make the front end a useful priority. Doors, rear panels and loading areas become more relevant when you want protection beyond the front of the car.

Coverage choiceTypical areasWho it suits
Selected panelsIndividual areas such as the bumper, door cups, door edges or boot-loading lipOwners who want to protect a particular wear point or focus their budget on a few areas
Full frontFront bumper, complete bonnet, both front wings and painted mirror capsDaily commuters and frequent motorway drivers prioritising forward-facing painted panels
Full painted exteriorFull front, doors, rear quarter panels, rear bumper, boot lid or tailgate, and a painted roof where applicableOwners wanting broader paint protection or a consistent matte or colour transformation

Choose whole panels for a cleaner visual result. A complete bonnet avoids a film line across its centre. Curves, recesses and panel access influence where joins and edges sit.

Make the coverage specific to your car. Painted side skirts, small trim pieces and headlights can be discussed separately. Your quote will list the included areas so the scope is clear.

A good finish starts underneath

Carbins PPF installation, from paint to final fit

  1. Start with the paint condition

The starting surface shapes the result. Existing chips, peeling clear coat, old film and repainted panels need attention before fitting. For a new car, this is a chance to protect the paint early. For an older car, the priority is a sound surface worth protecting.

  2. Prepare for a clean, even appearance

Washing and decontamination remove dirt and deposits that could show beneath the film. Where the paint has suitable swirls or light marks, paint correction can improve the appearance before transparent PPF goes on. Film preserves the surface beneath it rather than repairing that surface.

  3. Fit around the shape of your car

Bumper curves, air intakes, mirror caps and panel edges all influence the fit. Careful positioning and attention to these details help the film follow the bodywork. Edge wrapping and joins depend on the panel shape and access, with the fitting approach tailored to the chosen coverage.

  4. Finish with a clear handover

The final review covers the fitted panels, seams and edges, followed by practical care guidance. You will need to know when to wash the car and how to look after your selected finish. Allowing the film to settle properly is part of getting a good result.

Made for the car you actually drive

Where Carbins PPF earns its place

The best coverage serves a purpose. It might be keeping a new bonnet looking fresh, protecting the areas your family uses every day or giving the entire car a different finish.

Start with what matters to you

Choose the protection around the way you use your car.

  1. Keep the original lookClear gloss lets the paint colour remain the focus while adding a replaceable protective layer.
  2. Cover everyday wear pointsTarget exposed front panels, frequently used door areas or the boot-loading lip.
  3. Change the overall finishExplore matte clear or colour PPF when you want a consistent new appearance across the car.

Protection you can live with

PPF takes the first contact from many everyday surface marks. If one covered area is damaged, that section may be replaceable without renewing the film on the whole car. The condition of the surrounding film and paint determines the sensible repair.

It remains a protective surface layer, so a strong impact can still cut the film or dent the panel. Choosing coverage around your real wear points makes more sense than expecting any film to prevent every kind of damage.

Warranty and aftercare. Warranty length and cover depend on the selected Carbins film and applicable policy. Film warranty and installation workmanship terms are separate. The applicable terms should be included with your installation details, along with the contact for aftercare.

Easy habits after fitting

Keep the film looking its best

A considered wash routine helps preserve the finish. Start with the handover advice for your fitted film, then build these simple habits into regular car care.

Let the film settle

Wait until the advised wash date before cleaning the car. Leave new edges alone while the adhesive settles. If an edge lifts or a mark persists, contact the workshop for advice.

Wash away grit gently

Rinse loose dirt before washing, use film-compatible cleaners and remove bird droppings promptly. Matte film needs products that preserve its low-reflection finish, so avoid abrasive polishing.

Care for surface marks

Some Carbins films have self-healing coatings for fine surface marks under specified conditions. The feature depends on the chosen model and does not repair deep cuts or tears.

Refresh damaged areas

A localised impact may only require attention to one covered panel. Have damaged or ageing film assessed before replacement, with extra care over repainted areas when removing old film.

A few useful answers

Choosing Carbins PPF for your car

From the finish you see to the coverage you use, here are the questions that help narrow down your choice.

Is Carbins PPF the same as vinyl wrapping?

No. Carbins offers TPU paint protection film and PVC vinyl wrap. PPF provides a protective film layer, while vinyl wrapping is primarily used to change colour and appearance. Colour PPF brings a different colour and protective TPU film together in one option.

Should I choose full-front or full-exterior PPF?

Full-front coverage is a useful starting point when stone-chip exposure on motorway journeys is your main concern. Full-exterior coverage adds the doors, rear panels and other agreed painted areas. It is also the more consistent choice when changing a gloss car to matte clear or colour PPF.

Can Carbins PPF go over existing scratches?

PPF does not remove scratches or chips. Transparent film may leave existing marks visible, so suitable paint correction or repair comes first where needed. A paint inspection helps establish what can be improved before the film is fitted.

How long does Carbins PPF installation take?

The schedule depends on your coverage, the shape of the car and the preparation needed. Old-film removal or paint correction adds work. A selected-panel installation and a full-exterior transformation need different amounts of workshop time, so your collection estimate will be specific to the job.

Does PPF replace ceramic coating or window tint?

They serve different purposes. PPF is a physical protective layer on body panels. Ceramic coating is a surface treatment, often chosen for its finish and maintenance benefits. Window tint goes on glass. A PPF-compatible coating may complement the film where suitable for the chosen product.

Is Carbins the right PPF brand for my car?

Start with the appearance you want, the panels you use most and your budget. Carbins offers clear, matte and colour options, so the right choice depends on the particular film as well as the installation. If you are exploring brands, our paint protection film service is a useful place to compare your options.
